BEACHES FOR DAYS

Fulham Gardens is less than 20 mins from some of the best eating spots in the city and along the beaches.

You are in the prime position to get the best of two of the finest beaches in Adelaide. We are right in between Henley and Grange Beach. Only 3 kms away from each of them.

My favourite thing to do is go to the end of Grange Road at about 6am in the summer and 9am in the winter and watch the dogs playing. It’s only 2km away and well worth a dip after the walk.

Everything is only 20 mins away in Adelaide, but if you are here for work and you want to check out where the locals go that are a little off the beaten track here are my picks.

HENLEY BEACH

If you get to Henley, go to Joe’s for coffee. It’s a little further outside of the square, past the surf life saving club, but it is where the locals go. Cibo also does a good coffee and I know the owner Maurice and they will absolutely pull a great coffee for you.

Melt makes a good Pizza, but you can’t beat the view from Stella.

GRANGE BEACH

Jetty Cafe is great for coffee and the view but just back off the beach you will find The Cooks Pantry. I love their soup and salads. Or if you want a good pub meal, go to the Grange Hotel.

Grange

THE SPARE ROOM

A relaxed cafe in Grange with amazing staff. You can walk there in 10 mins. Good coffee and lots of pups to pat.

Brooklyn Park

KARMA & CROW

If you have a business or creative meeting, and you want to take it away from Dancing Zen, go to Karma and Crow. I have developed a number of projects from there. You will love the atmosphere. It’s owned by a couple of great women and they are all about community and sustainability.

Aldgate

FRED

It’s in the Adelaide Hills in Aldgate, nothing local about it. But they do the best lunch. Not brunch. Lunch. A damn fine lunch that is more than the average lunch. Their Bao buns are yum and their green bowl…mmmm.

Then if you like a spot of shopping, go over to Fred Living. So many pretty things.

FAVE EATS IN THE CITY

Yumity Yum. Sometimes you need to dress up and go out-out.

AFRICOLA

East Terrace

You just have to eat here.

It is the best Adelaide has to offer. It showcases our people, our culture, our ability to be on the world stage. South African BBQ vibes. Get into it and if you like cocktails go to Brklyn.

AURORA

Light Square

Sustainability in food and local produce at its best. Aurora boasts social responsibility and they deserve the accolade. Aurora is the restaurant connected to ‘Light’, a revolutionary social enterprise focusing on accessible opportunities for artists and performers, but more importantly bringing tech savvy to already great shows. I have seen a number of shows at Light and am always impressed.

RUNDLE STREET

East End

I can’t pick just one place on Rundle Street. There are so many, but you need to go down the laneways to visit the magic. Hey Jupiter; The Howling Owl; Sicily Pizzeria and my fav Vegan Greek place, Staazi & Co (even if you are not Vegan, it’s good).  This is what it looks like during the Fringe festival.

STAYING IN?

The deck lends itself to yum take away. You can call these places direct and they will deliver.

MARKETS & MUST DO’S

STIRLING MARKETS

A bit of everything at these markets. Get up into the hills and get your markets on.

Once a month on a Sunday

ADELAIDE SHOWGROUND FARMERS MARKETS

Best and yummiest produce ever. I particularly love the stalls that have ready cooked meals

Every Sunday

EBENEZER NIGHT MARKETS

Here is …me. Yes, I had a stall at these markets a couple of years ago because they are the best, most fun markets. When the DJ was playing I was dancing more than I was working.

November - March

The obvious places to go if you are new to Adelaide are:

McLaren Vale; it is so beautiful and green and I love anywhere around there. I often go to catch up on some writing.

Barossa is also gorgeous and Moonta Bay has a special place in my heart. My grandfather used to take us out on the boat.

As a creative, I can’t get enough of the Fringe and Adelaide Festival. Do yourself a favour and make Feb / March your time to be in Adelaide.

LOVE DANCING ZEN

"As A Creative, This Space Was The Perfect Container To Work, Rest And Play In. The Quality, Attention To Detail And Quirkiness Made It Feel Like An Immersive Experience, Not Just Somewhere To Stay.

Showering Under The Stars, Meditating Under The Disco Ball, And Yoga On The Deck Listening To Flowing Water Were A Few Of The Unique Standouts."
